The HOPE Dental program helps families in the Jackson County, Missouri area gain access to affordable and quality basic dental health care. This is done through a fully equipped mobile oral health care unit brought to a partner school, senior living center and mental health facility. Eligible students and partner clients are served at partner locations. The mobile clinic typically goes to partner locations twice a year. The goal of HOPE Dental is to provide a dental home for Medicaid eligible, underinsured persons and as many uninsured children as possible.
Oral care services provided by HOPE Dental include dental exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments (for children), x-rays, sealants, fillings, tooth extractions, crowns, dentures and pulpotomies. Most of these can be done at the partner location site. Oral education and free dental care kits (toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste) are provided to all children served by HOPE Dental. When oral care and general health issues exceed the extent of HOPE Dental services, patients are informed on the need to obtain further care and are referred to other area health care service providers.
